Character & lifestyle
A master-planned "new prime" district wedged between Downtown/Business Bay and Nad Al Sheba, built around the swimmable man-made Crystal Lagoon with white-sand beaches, a long boardwalk and a dedicated cycling/running track. The pitch is leafy, low-density, gated living - large villa plots in District One, mid-to-high-rise apartments around Sobha Hartland and Meydan - still only ~10 minutes from Downtown, the opposite of high-rise marina density. It skews calm, green and family/end-user oriented rather than nightlife; District One is ultra-prime villas and mansions, while Sobha Hartland and the Meydan side are mid-to-high-rise apartments.
Anchored by the Crystal Lagoon (kilometres of swimmable lagoon with white-sand beaches), a long landscaped boardwalk and a 14 km cycling/jogging track. Meydan Racecourse, The Track Meydan Golf, Hartland Greens parks and Mediclinic Meydan healthcare are open today; District One Mall and Meydan One Mall are still under construction (future retail, not yet usable). The district borders the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary (flamingo lagoons).
