A low-rise, villa-dominated community on the far eastern edge of Dubai, also spelled Al Awir. It began as an agricultural and camel-breeding area and still has a rural-to-suburban feel, with large villas on generous plots and very little apartment stock. It sits between Emirates Road (E611), Hatta Road (E44) and Al Awir Road, close to Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City and Al Warqa'a.

## Getting around

No metro or tram. Bus line 11A runs from Gold Souq via Al Awir. By car, Al Aweer is off Emirates Road (E611), Hatta Road (E44) and Al Awir Road. Dubai International Airport is roughly 15 to 20 minutes, Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City about 10 to 15 minutes, and Downtown Dubai or DIFC around 25 to 35 minutes, all traffic dependent.

## Lifestyle

Everyday shopping is limited inside the community; larger trips go to City Centre Mirdif, Dragon Mart or Dubai Festival City. The Al Awir Fruit and Vegetable Market is a local feature. Parks and mosques are scattered and Springfield International School is within 1 km. The area is quiet and low-density, with large gardens.
